Tableau – Q4 2024
Version Updates
Usually Tableau releases 3 updates per year. In this blog post we’ll go through some of the features added in the third release of 2024 (2024.3).
1. Tableau Cloud Manager
With the new TCM, it will now be easier to manage your environments (sites), users and licenses in your cloud environment.
2. Table Viz Extension
Aside from the default ‘Text Table’, a new table graph is now developed and available as a Viz Extension:

This new table visual will have conditional formatting, search (within columns) and the possibility to have ‘visuals’ in your table cells (eg: small bar charts).
3. Spatial Parameters
Parameters can be used to let the end user impact calculations that are happening in a dashboard are make a dashboard dynamic based on a users’ selection. A similar feature, called spatial parameters, has been released to have the same behavior also possible within spatial objects. (eg: locations, paths, regions,… in a map)
4. Visualized Data Model
To get an understanding of how the data tables in your model are related it. For your Published Data Sources Tableau will visually show you your data model.
5. Google Font Support
Google fonts are now available in Tableau Cloud (eg: Lato, Noto Sans,…)
6. Tableau Pulse Improvements
As mentioned in the previous blog post a bunch of improvements have been made to Tableau Pulse:
- Seasonal trends
- Mobile improvements
- Pulse metrics in dashboards
- Currency symbols
- Follower count per metric
- …
7. Tableau app for Microsoft Teams
Directly from within MS you can access, share and interaction with Tableau (dashboards, Pulse,…)

Upcoming
At the moment it is not entirely clear on what will be worked on in 2025. For sure, we can expect more enhancements to the ‘AI’ components of Tableau like Einstein, Pulse, etc.
And, of course, I’ll share the features announced for 2025 during the Tableau Conference again:
