Qlik Sense – May 2025

Version Updates

Qlik Sense released their first update of 2025, in this blog post we’ll go over some of the interesting improvements made during this version update.

1. Visualizations & Dashboard Improvements

  • Edit Mode improvements

While in Edit Mode a lot of the menu’s and options have been improved.

Firstly, the look and feel of the asset tab has been refreshed. (Fields, Master Items, Charts, ….)

A second (and very useful) change they added are the way we can now resize the panels, which was something I was even thinking about this week. Sometimes the panel would take too much space while developing but you still want to have it open, which you can now do.

The third improvement is the ability to select and see a histogram of your field values in the field menu. You could only do this outside of the edit menu previously. So no more going in and out of edit mode to do this.

  • UI Settings improvements

New UI settings have been added. These will give us more options to customize the UI of Qlik.

We can now set a logo per application and change what the navigation bar looks like. In addition to that we can also enable/disable the toolbar and sheet header and decide where to show the sheet title and the sheet/asset/bookmark button. If we don’t want to show them we can also hide all of these elements now.

  • Layout Container improvements

The best feature in Qlik is getting some more improvements this update.

You will now be able to make sure your objects within the container keep their size while you are resize the layout container by holding the shift button.  And custom tooltips are now supported in containers.

  • Pivot Table improvements

Continuing from the previous updates, the new pivot table has received some new features.

A new mode of presenting the pivot table has been added. It is called the indentation mode, within this mode you will now be able to add links to you dimension labels.

Users will now also be able to more easily expand and collapse any of the levels in your pivot table. For example, by right clicking a specific dimension they can now choose to expand or collapse only that specific dimension.

  • Straight Table improvements

Similar to the new Pivot Table, the new Straight table is also getting extra features and improvements with each new update.

Mini charts like spark lines, bars or dots are now supported (as they were in the old table graphs).

You are now able to set how null values should be displayed and decide whether or not you want to display the header of your table.

Other styling options that were added:

– Background color
– Background image
– Pajama/Zebra striping (alternating color for your table rows)

  • New line chart feature

A new feature has been added to our line charts. It will now be possible to manually add lines and points to your line charts. You could for example do this to highlight your lowest and highest point in your line chart. The values for the point and lines can be a static value or dynamic through the use of measure or set analysis.

  • Bar Chart improvements:

A new option has been added to the bar chart graph. Instead of grouped and stacked bar charts, it is now also possible to display a bar chart as a Butterfly Chart. This is useful if you want to compare 2 positive values over a single dimension. As with the other bar charts, this new presentation can be shown vertical or horizontal.

  • A reference line has been added to the scatterplot graph

2. Data & Platform changes

  • New variable options

Variable session values are now displayed in the variable dialogue. This will be useful during development of your Qlik dashboards. And as mentioned in the previous blog post, it will now be possible to select (per variable) if they should be saved in a bookmark or not.

  • Regular expressions are now supported to be used in Qlik
